- Colonel Józef Pawłusiewicz - he bred black and tan dogs, which long later were registered under the name Polish hound.
It was Colonel Józef Pawłusiewicz who contributed most to the development of these purebred dogs in the form in which it is now known. For many years, these dogs were not recognized by any associations, because they did not correspond to the approved Polish hound standard.

Inflammation of the ears
It is conditioned by the fact that hounds they have pendulous, quite long ears, which disturbs ear ventilation.
Increasing the humidity inside the ear creates a favorable environment for the multiplication of microorganisms.
Most often they are fungal inflammations - excessive multiplication of Malaysian yeasts, sometimes secondary inflammation of the bacterial background may occur.
Inflammation can be unilateral or bilateral.
The initial symptoms are:
- reddening,
- itching and pain in the ear,
- increasing the warmth in the ear area,
- shaking your head,
- sometimes the head is tilted to one side.
Later there is a discharge which may vary in color depending on the type of inflammation.
If you notice such symptoms in your dog, you should immediately visit a veterinarian who will check the ear canal for foreign objects and assess the condition of the eardrum.
It should be remembered that this is a very painful condition and, if left untreated, it can lead to deafness, otitis media and even neurological symptoms.
Injuries
Polish hounds, due to their active lifestyle, are more susceptible to injuries, especially the pads of paws and claws.
You should pay attention to it, especially after intensive walks or browsing in the forest.
Minor wounds can be treated with generally available disinfectants, in the case of more serious cuts or injuries it is necessary to contact a veterinarian.
